Starter Fund unveils selection
The Starter Fund has announced 40 companies selected across two dedicated pathways, shining a spotlight on a bold new wave of early-stage UK games talent and the original ideas they are preparing to bring to market.
Selected companies will receive £20,000 for own-IP development, giving teams the space to sharpen their concepts, explore their markets and take meaningful steps towards turning promising ideas into commercially focused games.
In total, 30 companies have been selected for the Head Start Pathway, which backs solo developers and early-stage studios with hands-on commercial games development experience, while 10 companies will join the Fresh Start Pathway, a launchpad for both graduate games development studios and very early-stage companies ready to build confidence, capability and connections.
The Fresh Start Pathway offers an exciting, structured programme of support for emerging studios, including industry expert facilitation, business development input, network building and practical guidance to help teams professionalise how they operate and grow their businesses over the coming months and years.
The Head Start Pathway is designed for developers ready to make the leap with their own-IP games, supporting concept development, audience validation, growth planning and preparation for a future Prototype Fund pitch.
Deborah Farley, Director at UKGTF said:
“We’re thrilled to welcome this new cohort of Starter Fund companies. Their selection reflects the strength, ambition and creative energy of emerging games talent across the UK, and we look forward to supporting them as they develop original IP, build sustainable businesses and prepare for future growth.”
Today’s announcement underlines the Starter Fund’s role as a powerful springboard for promising early stage UK games businesses, helping developers build momentum, test the market for their ideas and move closer to bringing fresh, original games to players.
